 Chinchy are an electro-pop rock duo based in Townsville, Queensland. Some people refer to our music as shit, others just plain old crap. Yet we don’t see any difference between shit and crap, we like to entertain the idea that it's something different, special - unique. But it's hard to be a judge of music without being the jury and executioner in one. This is one of the main platforms for Chinchy's "FREE THE MUSIC" campaign.
Anyway... Chinchy formed in the year 2000, it was a magical year, Hillary Swank won the Academy Award for best actress and a few other things happened as well. After recording our first demo in 2001 Chinchy hit the dizzying heights of fame which allowed us to play at exclusive venues such as Club Millennium, The Embassy, Escape, The Playpen and Bludger's Club. Soon there after Chinchy were jamming with the likes of Phil Emmanuel, schmoozing with Russell Crowe and supporting National heavy-weights Machine Gun Fellatio, Butterfingers, Muph N' Plutonic and (shudder...) Taxi Ride.
Chinchy's latest release "This is Chinchy" is available NOW!!! The duo is currently in the throws of recording their follow up LP - the tentatively titled "Meat & Bones".
Chinchy is Meangreen (vox, programming and other assorted tasks) and Sourmash (guitar and stuff).

Chinchy will be making a comeback before the end of the year exclamation mark.
When? I don’t know. Where? I have no idea. Why? I often ask myself the same question.
I can tell you it that it could be in October, November or December. A nice big fucking window to work with <i>*wink*</i>.<p>
We are still recording songs for another upcoming release which you will be able to download, later rather than sooner, from this wonderful green coloured Shangri-la that is in front of your eyes.<p>

Well, it’s the end of another financial year and the fruits of Chinchy’s labour would have probably garnered a crack addict’s habit for about one day... yet we still soldier on.<br>

<b>Now to the news front.</b><p>
There’s some good news and some bad... best to start with the bad I reckon.
Sour Mash’s guitar, which we affectionately called ‘A Piece of Shit’ and was a staple addition to Chinchy’s live shows for the past 6 years, passed away this week... There will be a minutes silence at our next gig to commemorate this sad occasion.
Now for the good news.
Sour Mash has a <b><a href= "http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=36&CollectionID=5" class= "button" target= "_blank">new guitar</a></b> and it is kick-ass, it looks so sleek and smells so new.<p>
On the subject of kick-ass Chinchy’s last gig at <b><a href= "http://www.townsvillebrewery.com.au/items.asp?id=92" class= "button" target= _blank">"Funk and Drive"</a></b> was kick-ass... major kudos go out to all involved... it was one crazy night, something that Townsville had never experienced before.<br>
<p>We are currently recording our 2nd full length album... it is a work in progress but we will keep you posted. Also, if you would like to contribute some ‘goodness’ to our next album, get in <b><a href= "mailto:enquires@chinchy.org" class= "button">contact</a></b> with us... We love collaborating, or as Sour Mash calls it ‘drinking’. Last thing... We have some stickers, hats and of course Chinchy Cd’s on there way... hopefully just in time for Christmas.<p>

<b>NEWS UPDATE - 20/06/06</b><br>Chinchy... Say it with me... say it LOUD and say it PROUD.
Ahhhh... Will wonders never cease? Chinchy are preparing for a massive show at the Brewery’s <a href= "http://www.townsvillebrewery.com.au/items.asp?id=92" class= "button" target= "_blank"><b>“Funk & Drive”</b></a>, so you have to show up or you won’t be ‘hip’ (and you don’t want to have that looming over your shoulder for the rest of your life do you?).
We are currently in the recording studio, by recording studio I mean ‘my place’ and we are delicately putting together a new CD for your audible enjoyment. It’s a long and dark road but Chinchy sees the light at the end of the tunnel. <b>NEWS UPDATE - 05/04/06</b><br>It was indeed a hot and sweaty Friday night as Chinchy took too the stage to deliver electro-goodness to the punters at JCU’s Bludger’s Club. As per usual Chinchy stabbed the ears of their listeners with an eclectic mix of beats, drunkenness and personality... did I mention sweat yet?? Heart-felt thanks must be extended to the incredibly sexy crowd who made the humid evening more steamy and sultry than anyone could have imagined. Huge shout-outs and Kudos’ to Penny (from Muso’s) and the other bands for squeezing Chinchy into the awesome lineup. Also thanks to <a href= "http://www.myspace.com/audiounityxperience" class= "button" target= "_blank"><b>AUX</b></a> and his first year photography skills for some great pictures (they are up on the website now). And while I am dishing out thanks... I think it’s time to thank my Roland MC909 groovebox for successfully converting electricity and my ‘sloppy-hands’ into something that vaguely resembles music. We've experienced the good, the bad, the highs, the lows, the inebriated and the sober but once again time has come a knocking on the door of the Palace of CHINCHY. Our recent two week recording sabbatical has proven to be quite successful, spawning more material than we can possibly handle. Chinchy is now putting the final touches, tying the shoe laces tighter, and cutting the umbilical cord to the songs that have haunted us for so many years (in a good way), along with the help of the ever-so-consummate professionals at Wild Blue Music (<b><a href="http://wildbluemusic.com" class="button" target="_blank">WBM</b></a>).
